6 ways to grow back sparse and over-plucked eyebrows
Your eyebrows are like beautiful, bushy islands that add definition to your face. So, you’ve recently been a little overzealous in plucking your eyebrows, with less than stellar results, Our message to you: Don’t panic. There is hope for over-plucked eyebrows. While it depends on many factors, including the tweezers you use, how often you pluck, and how traumatic your hairs are, you won’t be stuck with thin brows forever. Brow experts reveal their tips for growing back eyebrow hair, and we’ve got five (mostly) natural and incredibly easy ways to do it.
1. Massage Massage the area around your eyebrows
Just like your scalp, massaging your eyebrows can help stimulate hair growth by increasing your blood flow. When you brush or massage your eyebrows, you create stimulation and blood flow is oxygenated, which causes hair to grow. To massage, press one or two fingers toward the middle of your eyebrow and use circular motions, moving gradually toward the tail of your eyebrow. This technique is effective when you massage with a growth serum, or a homemade blend such as castor oil and olive oil.
2. Choose the right tweezers
Don’t use tweezers with a wide, flat tip – it’s like using a lawnmower to remove a blade of grass. Instead, choose tweezers with a bent tip so you can pull in the direction of hair growth.Skin tends to be softer and more delicate right after a shower. The result? Eyebrow hairs glide effortlessly.
You can be more precise, also avoid tweezers with rubber handles on the end. The rubber creates more friction, which causes more trauma to the hair when you pull it out.
Deficiencies in vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, C, D, biotin, omega fatty acids, iron or zinc can slow or stop hair growth cycles. It sounds basic, but a proper, healthy, balanced diet is essential in all facets of cellular function. Be sure to eat a diet rich in leafy greens and protein to support hair health and growth
4. Coconut oil
Using a small amount of coconut oil on your eyebrows every night will give your thinning eyebrows the nourishment they need. The best way to do this is to dip a clean finger or cotton ball into the coconut oil and apply it to your eyebrows in the direction of hair growth. Leave it on overnight, rinse the next morning and repeat.
Do a weekly eyebrow mask Your eyebrows can also benefit from a weekly mask.Use a product like aloe vera gel or coconut oil, spread on your eyebrow hairs to nourish them. Castor oil is also effective, as it provides vitamin E and omega-6 fatty acids to your hair to revitalize it.
5. Growth serum
If you’re less concerned about an all-natural approach and are looking for faster results, there are many brow growth serums on the market. Formulated with ingredients to add fullness and encourage growth.
6. Exfoliate your eyebrows
The primary step in restoring volume to your eyebrow hairs is exfoliation. It is important to exfoliate our eyebrows because we carry a lot of dry skin under our eyebrow hairs. What happens is that we are then not able to receive the creams or oils that we put on our dry skin. So when you remove the dead skin from your eyebrows, you open the door for small hairs to grow and you also avoid ingrown hairs.
Take some very finely ground pink salt from your kitchen, mix it with an oil like castor oil, or a facial oil – like jasmine oil – and rub it on your arches. You can exfoliate your eyebrows about once a month.
How long does it typically take for eyebrows to grow out?
In regrowing eyebrows, patience is the key. It takes at least two to three months to see hair growth. The growth cycle for eyebrow hair is three to four months, so you need enough time for the hair to respond to your changes.
If you still don’t see the results you want after four months, see a dermatologist. He or she has many non-dietary options you can try, including:
– Prescription supplements and topical medications.
– Platelet-rich plasma injections.
– Eyebrow hair transplants.
