What is eyebrow lamination?
There are many ways to make your eyebrows beautiful and well-groomed, but many of them, unlike lamination, are painful, complicated or not effective enough. However, lamination also has its own disadvantages and contraindications, as well as the peculiarities of the procedure and care.
What is lamination and what is it?
Laminating is the coating of eyebrows with a revitalizing agent with the accompanying correction of their shape and color.
There are several types of lamination.
Modeling – aimed at changing the shape of eyebrows. They are made more symmetrical and suitable for the face type, and then they are fixed with a special product that moisturizes the hairs and makes them more docile.
Curative – nourishes and restores eyebrows, stimulates hair growth, and protects from harmful influences.
Dyeing – allows not only modeling, but also dyeing eyebrows.
What are the cons of brow lamination?
- lamination will not help to hide scars, quickly correct too sparse or missing eyebrows (only to stimulate the growth of hairs);
- Laminations cannot change the curvature of the eyebrows, the length and width of the arch;
- hairs that are out of shape will still need to be plucked from time to time;
- May be allergic to laminating agents;
- there are some contraindications;
- The effect of the procedure is not too long, it must be repeated regularly;
- the procedure is relatively expensive.
How long does eyebrow lamination last?
The effect lasts for about a month.The lamination layer is just gradually washed off.
Correction is not carried out, after 1-2 months a second lamination procedure is done. There are no special restrictions on the frequency of treatment, you can not wait until the effect is completely gone.
Giving the eyebrows the right shape depending on the client’s needs and type of appearance.
Applying a special composition to the eyebrows. It softens the hairs and fixes them in position. Then the hairs are carefully brushed and separated.
If the eyebrows should be coloured, they are covered from above with a special pigment.
The eyebrows are covered with a keratin-containing product. It nourishes and strengthens the hairs.
Usually after 2-3 procedures eyebrows become thicker and more beautiful, and hairs – more manageable, so you can resort to lamination less often – once every 5-6 months.
What should not do after eyebrow lamination?
The eyebrows after lamination do not require any special care. There are only some restrictions for the first day:
- Do not get your eyebrows wet;
- Do not apply any products to the eyebrows, perform cosmetic procedures;
- Do not rub or touch your eyebrows;
- Avoid physical exertion and anything that may cause increased sweating.
- After 24 hours you may not limit your behavior. You may even exfoliate.
Only laminated hairs should not be plucked – only those that are “outside” and are unnecessary.
Where better to do: in a salon, at a private master or do it yourself at home?
Laminating is not too difficult, so you can do it yourself at home.
However, the final result and its duration depends on how professionally performed the procedure and the materials used. Therefore it is better to rely on professionals who can correctly choose the most suitable products, to give eyebrows the most suitable look and take into account all the details.
But, since lamination does not require special conditions, it is not necessary to do it in a salon. You can go to a private master with a sufficient level of training.
In order to save money you can do lamination at home, but you should remember that without experience the procedure may not be as successful as under the supervision of a professional.
How much does eyebrow lamination cost?
The approximate cost of laminating eyebrows in salons is between $50 and $100 per session. At a private master the procedure can usually be done cheaper – for $25-$50.
It is also worth considering that high-quality products for self-laminating cost about $40-$60, and one set is enough for 3-5 procedures.
How to do eyebrow lamination at home?
Self-laminating can be carried out with gelatin or with the help of special products, bought in cosmetic stores.
Lamination with gelatin.
Add 15 grams of gelatin to 50 grams of water and heat the mixture (without bringing it to a boil). Then add 15 grams of hair balm and mix everything thoroughly. You can also add a few drops of castor, olive, almond or burdock oil or an oil solution of vitamins A and E.
Next, it is necessary to clean the skin, arrange the eyebrows with a brush and apply the resulting mixture to the eyebrows. After 40-60 minutes it must be gently wiped off with a cotton swab soaked in warm water.
However, the effect will not be noticeable immediately, but only after a few days. It is worth considering that this method, although it is the easiest and most accessible, is not always effective enough, especially compared to the salon method.
Laminating with special products.
Special products will give a much better effect than gelatin, but also cost more.
There are different sets of products for lamination, the most popular are the products of the following brands:
“PaulMitchell” – American products, made entirely from components of plant origin.
“LVL” – an English brand of high quality.
“YumiLashes” is a Swiss brand that maximally moisturizes and nourishes the eyebrows.
So, lamination is not only an easy and affordable, but also a useful way to make eyebrows more attractive. In addition, it is harmless and painless, has almost no contraindications and can be done at home.
